Welcome to my blog! Its purpose is to share my love and enthusiasm for Ellowyne Wilde, one of the most beautiful and playable collector dolls currently available. She is the brainchild of one of my favorite doll artists, Robert Tonner, whose credo is “Believe in the Power of Play”. I take this to heart, even if other people might not understand a grown woman playing with dolls. However, maybe we’re simply on the threshold of a trend. There are intricate Lego sets made for ages 12 and older, and coloring books for adults are ubiquitous in bookstores to big box discounters to the local market. As society recognizes the importance of adult play, perhaps our dolls will eventually become mainstream.
Adult doll play can range from dressing and re-dressing dolls to sewing clothes to making jewelry to building elaborate dioramas. Ellowyne awakened my creativity and sense of play, feelings that I thought were buried deep in my soul. I’m making jewelry for the first time in years, buying amazing handmade clothing, I change her clothing and wigs, take photos, and make jewelry for her. But my favorite way of playing is to make up stories about Ellowyne and her friends, just I had done with my childhood dolls. Then I discovered the world of fan fiction. Enthusiasts of Star Trek, Harry Potter, and One Direction write stories based on their unique visions of beloved characters and publishing them online. Why not write fanfic about Ellowyne and her friends?
Thus, this blog was born. It is a place for me to share my stories. I will include original photography and photo stories as well as some miscellaneous musings about the Ellowyne line. As this is a blog about Ello and her friends, you won’t see other dolls unless they are relevant to a story. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy reading my blog!
